The idea for F2G Events came about following the very first Fade to Grey Festival in October 2007 to raise funds and awareness for the Gilbert Richards Centre in Earlsdon, Coventry in association with Age Concern and as part of the International Older Persons week in October 2007. The centre is a vital asset to many local residents in and around Earlsdon and provides social support and educational classes too many older people in the area.

Organiser, creator and head honcho Marianne Caine chose The Albany Club in Earlsdon to host the main event which had all the required facilities for live music and a large car park to erect a marquee. Lee Brayshaw, a trustee and entertainment secretary of the Albany Club offered his artistic services as a keen advocate of the cause and a lover of Earlsdon and live music in general. Lee's band The Suspects were asked to headline the music festival in the evening which brought on board the bands vocalist, Mick Wheeler, a lecturer at Tile Hill College who helped organise other bands and sound engineers, and guitarist Pete Jackson who has his feet firmly in the local folk music scene and who arranged artistes to play acoustic music in the events marquee during the afternoon.

The event was a resounding success and the residents and Albany Club members raised over £4000 which went to maintain activities and improvements at the Gilbert Richards Centre. Due to the great success and the support received the festival is now an annual event and companion/rival to the Earlsdon Festival held in May. The festivals aims are to provide a bridge of common interest and meaningful interchange between different age, race, ability and economic groups and different cultures in our area and to provide an opportunity for people to engage in community activity.
